FM Approvals Joins ISA Global Cybersecurity Alliance

Earlier this year, FM Approvals joined the ISA Global Cybersecurity Alliance (ISAGCA) – a collaborative forum to advance operational technology (OT) cybersecurity awareness. Created by the International Society of Automation (ISA), the objectives of the alliance include the acceleration and expansion of standards, certification, education program, advocacy efforts, and thought leadership.

ISAGCA cultivates awareness and engagement around important cybersecurity issues with industry stakeholders. The alliance expands and extends the adoption and use of ISA/IEC-62443 cybersecurity standards worldwide while developing materials that help all sectors utilize standards and access technical guidance.

Since industrial organizations worldwide increasingly rely on connected devices and networks, they are vulnerable to cyberattacks. ISA/IEC-62443 provides a comprehensive framework for addressing these risks and improving the security of industrial control systems and their components. As ISA/IEC-62443 continues to be recognized and adopted around the world, FM Approvals is committed to playing our part to support the distribution, awareness, and compliance to the requirements.

As an ISASecure® Accredited Cybersecurity Laboratory for the ISA/IEC-62443 set of standards, FM Approval’ industrial control cybersecurity experts utilize state-of-the-art test equipment to efficiently evaluate multiple products simultaneously – assessing the manufacturers’ conformance to ISA/IEC-62443. FM Approvals’ cybersecurity testing capabilities include vulnerability testing, asset discovery, asset mapping, network traffic analysis, malware detection, and more.

As FM Approvals continues to evolve our cybersecurity testing and certification efforts, our membership and alignment with ISAGCA provides a substantial opportunity to gather knowledge, engage with relevant stakeholders, and contribute to the expanded availability of operational technology assessed to be robust against cybersecurity threats by conforming to industry standards.
