FM Approvals Standard 1616, Underground Pipe Rehabilitation Systems

FM Approvals is pleased to announce FM 1616 for certification of underground pipe rehabilitation systems to complement our portfolio of standards for fire protection piping systems. This new standard is aimed at addressing applications where removal and/or replacement of existing underground fire sprinkler water lines is simply not feasible. Certified pipe rehabilitation systems will extend the useful life of the existing piping by eliminating leaks and restoring a smooth waterway in addition to adding strength to aged host pipes all while minimizing the disruptions, large expense and downtime of a traditional pipeline replacement. FM Approval standard 1616 provides an opportunity to evaluate products that increase the resilience of a critical, but often overlooked, part of a fire protection system.
