The Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) selects one organization that exhibits the incorporation of accepted procedures, practices, and constraints of floodproofing to receive the annual ASFPM John R. Sheaffer Award for Excellence in Floodproofing. FM Approvals is excited to have been selected as the 2022 winner at this year’s ASFPM Conference! This prestigious award recognizes the outstanding contributions made by individuals, agencies, and organizations to promote resiliency, enhance awareness of new designs and products, while advancing ASFPM's mission. ASFPM's Flood Mitigation Certification Program is a collaborative partnership with FM Approvals and the US Army Corps of Engineers that provides a unique flood resiliency service by testing and certifying flood-fight products as well as flood abatement equipment. This program serves a critical need across the country in protecting residential, commercial, and industrial buildings through flood mitigation and abatement solutions that have gone through rigorous water and material testing in accordance with ANSI/FM 2510.
FM Approvals promotes floodproofing knowledge by enhancing awareness and use of tested and certified flood fighting products and flood abatement equipment, including:
- Perimeter barriers
- Opening barriers
- Flood mitigation pumps and valvesFlood glazing
- Wall penetration seals
- Early warning flood sensors
