Examination Standard 5560, Water Mist Systems, has been updated to include two new fire test protocols which enable the certification of water mist fire protection systems for the protection of a variety of new occupancies which include;
- Hazard Category 2 (HC-2) – including lightly and moderately loaded non-storage, nonmanufacturing, and manufacturing areas with ordinary combustibles (e.g., machine shops, woodworking, electronic assembly, and retail areas)
- Hazard Category 3 (HC-3) – including areas with generally continuous heaver combustible loading with limited quantities of ignitable liquids and/or heavier amounts of plastics (e.g., manufacturing, plastics processing and molding, garages, and convention centers)
