FM Approvals has been made aware of label marking issue involving Model DVC6215 Remote Feedback Assembly which did not include a caution statement that for Class I, Division 1 Group A installation, a poured seal is required within 2 inches of the conduit entry.  See attached IMPORTANT PRODUCT SERVICE NOTICE issued by Emerson, dated May 31st, 2023.

FM Approval Status: All models bearing the FM Mark

Number of Units Impacted: Approx 600 units produced during 2015 to 2023.

 

Hazard Involved:  The manufactured product in question contains nameplate GE91141-A or GE68234-B (left side on nameplate) which has an incorrect statement “Poured Seal Required within 18 inches” which applies to the installation of the product. This statement on nameplates GE91141-A or GE68234-B is applicable for Class I, Division 1, Groups ABCD installations, whereas the correct nameplate will have the following statements.

 

Poured Seal Require Within:

- 18 inches for Class I, Division 1, Groups BCD for FM

- 2 inches for Class I, Division 1, Group A for FM

 

Poured seal within 18 inches in a Group A installation is a safety concern as Approval evaluation was not conducted with this criteria.  Per the attached IMPORTANT PRODUCT SERVICE NOTICE, Fisher Controls International LLC will provide a wire-on tag with the words “POURED SEAL REQUIRED WITHIN 2 INCHES FOR CL I DIVISION 1 GROUP A FOR FM”.  This tag is to be attached to the product via one of the available unused mounting bolt holes.
