FM Approvals has been notified by AMETEK / Magnetrol that an incorrect epoxy material has been used in a flameproof joint of the FM Approved Models R96-51XX-3XX and R96-51XX-BXX Radar Transmitters. Customer notifications have been prepared and are being distributed by AMETEK / Magnetrol to all customers who purchased one of the transmitters in question. Attached is the AMETEK / Magnetrol customer notification for your reference.

FM Approval Status: FM Approved for Hazardous Locations

Hazard Involved: FM Approvals has been notified by AMETEK / Magnetrol that an incorrect epoxy material has been used in a flameproof joint of the FM Approved Models R96-51XX-3XX and R96-51XX-BXX Radar Transmitters. This incorrect epoxy material could break down over time due to exposure to chemical vapors or flame rendering the enclosure vulnerable to creating an ignition source. This issue effected products shipped between January 13, 2020 and September 17, 2024.

The attached notification from AMETEX / Magnetrol provides direction as to necessary steps if you are in possession of a suspect unit manufactured between January 12, 2020 and September 17, 2024. Please follow the instructions as indicated and reference the list of the serial numbers of affected units.
